MOON VALLEY
LANDSCAPES FROM ANOTHER PLANET WORTHY OF A SCIENCE FICTION FILM
The Valle de la Luna is located in the Salt Mountain Range, just 10 minutes from San Pedro. Its name derives from the abundant layers of salt and gypsum that compose it, giving it a bright white appearance that contrasts with the reddish hue of the surrounding hills.
This mountain range was formed millions of years ago, from the accumulation of sediments in an ancient lake. Over time, these sediments were folded and uplifted, creating the rock structures we see today.
Wind and water erosion have sculpted the Salt Mountain Range, creating extravagant shapes and surreal landscapes such as: colorful mountains, caves, natural arches and sand dunes.
