RED STONES
COME DISCOVER THE CHILEAN ALTIPLANO, A WORLD OF CONTRASTS THAT WILL LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS
On this tour, we head south of San Pedro de Atacama and spend the entire day in the Chilean highlands, over 4,000 meters above sea level, fully immersing ourselves in nature. With abundant local flora and fauna, we can encounter vicuñas, foxes, vizcachas, and much more. In the imposing hot-water salt flat, we visit the Piedras Rojas (Red Stones), named for the intense red color of the rocks caused by the oxidation of iron.
Far from the end of the tour, we visited the Flamingo National Reserve with crystal-clear lagoons surrounded by sacred volcanoes like the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons, and of course... we visited Laguna Chaxa in the Atacama Salt Flat, where we could see the flamingos up close. The Atacama Salt Flat is considered the third largest salt flat in the world, and only there can we find three of the six species of flamingos that exist.
