THE SKY OF SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA, A STARRY SCREEN
San Pedro de Atacama is world-renowned for its starry skies. Because it's far from major cities and has low humidity, San Pedro is one of the places with the least light pollution.
Being over 2,300 meters above sea level, the atmosphere is thinner, facilitating observation. This is why several astronomy projects are being developed here, such as ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) and TAO (Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo), the highest in the world at 5,640 meters.
With the naked eye you can see an unimaginable amount of stars, constellations and if you're lucky the Milky Way will be the most spectacular you've ever seen in your life
What to bring:
Dress warmly against the cold with a hat and gloves depending on the time of year (in the desert temperatures drop significantly in the morning and evening), and wear colorful clothing to improve astrophotography.
